Funny thing is they often don't even realise that you've pointed out the error in their ways - half the time they end up thanking you.

I did that to my X-mother-in-law when she recenlty sent me an e-mail originally circulated in the year 2000 about an FDA alert about PPA in certain over the counter meds. I pointed out that even though this was true, after some 3+ years, chances are it is pretty much gone from the shelves of even the itty bittiest drug stores. :D

'Course she *is* the x-mother-in-law, and I *did* get just the teeniest bit of an "in you face kick" out of pointing this out to her...

I had to abandon my post as the family computer wizard/technician/analyst/help desk/24 hr tech support after my sister asked me to come by and check out her mouse cause it would only move halfway across the screen. Turns out she would move it a little then hit the keyboard and she didn't realize she could pick up the mouse and move it over away from the keyboard :lol2:
 
I've sent some pretty scathing e-mails back to people who have forwarded crap like this to me. I don't get forwards like this anymore. See? It works.

Although I should probably mention that I don't talk to very many of those people anymore, but that's just because we've drifted apart, not because I flamed them.
