gambling addiction

now here is the question, is it an addiction if you don't lose?

yes, because eventually, your luck will run out. Don't tell me you gambled again last night and won?

Don't become your uncle and his daughter.

Do you do it because you like it or because you win?
If it is the former it is an addiction, otherwise you could stop playing as soon as you lose, right? ;)

I walk in with $20 and usually walk out with at least $100. the problem is when I am winning I want to bet more, whenI am winningbig I tend to start playing $50 a hand instead of $5

it's scary, but if I lose my $20 i leave

no, went to a kareoke bar last night

I don't think you really have a problem til you start gambling to make the rent money. the rent money you don't have cause you gambled it all away last week.

nope, but I do enjoy it, but i have my limits, like I said I start with $20 if i lose that I leave.

Usually put it the progressive $1 slots, bet max ($3) and build it to $50 then off to roulette, bring it to $150 (takes about an hour, bet the corners of the higher numbers, and 33...33 always comes in for me) then off to blackjack, play 3 hands at $5 to see if the dealer is hot or not, if it going my way I play till it is up to $300 if it is not I take my money and leave.

then if I have the $300 baccarac, and from there I usually get it to about $1000, then I go home.

so far I am up about $5000 all with my lucky $20, lol

I wouldn't consider that an addiction. If you set a reasonable limit for yourself on each outting (I'd say $20 is definately reasonable) and leave when/if that is gone then it's a form of entertainment and not an addiction. If you start spending money that you need for necessities, or money that you had other plans for (saving, a trip, etc) then I'd say it's an addiction. Right now though you're a damn lucky man who can MAKE money while having fun...most people must PAY money to have fun!

if i went to a casino with a $20 limit, it would take longer to walk from the garage to the casino floor than it would to lose the 20 bucks.

It's not an addiction at all. It's a failure of personality (if it becomes ugly)

Maybe you can use some of that $5000 to pick up some smokin' deals on stuff at the pawn shops that always pop up near casinos.

never been into gambling......went to casino's a couple of times in Jersey, but mostly sat at the bar and drank Pina Colada's.... :D

Paul, it's a problem when you find yourself looking for reasons to go gamble. It's a problem when you find yourself thinking about it randomly. It's a problem when you start considering gambling in your personal finance or budget.

Winning or loosing is irrelevant. Gambling ranges from loto tickets to bidding on E-bay. Most people don't think of it like that, but it's true. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. But always, it's addictive. There's an endorphine rush in that instant before you know wether you've won or lost. And that's the danger.
