Saudi Arabia has conducted tests to stand down its air defences to enable Israeli jets to make a bombing raid on Iran’s nuclear facilities, The Times can reveal.

In the week that the UN Security Council imposed a new round of sanctions on Tehran, defence sources in the Gulf say that Riyadh has agreed to allow Israel to use a narrow corridor of its airspace in the north of the country to shorten the distance for a bombing run on Iran.

To ensure the Israeli bombers pass unmolested, Riyadh has carried out tests to make certain its own jets are not scrambled and missile defence systems not activated. Once the Israelis are through, the kingdom’s air defences will return to full alert.

interesting, for sure.

the downside of a successful strike is it may unite iranians against everyone else. that would be too bad. their internal struggles could be good for us.
 
I think their internal struggles might be helped by this. Those wishing to liberlalize Iran (can they return to Persia?) might find this the opening they need.

to build nuclear weapons and use them . Just as we allowed Hitler to build up

I believe that if there is imminent destruction of Israel that they will launch everything they have, en masse, and the targets will be the capital cities of every nation in the region. They will go out and take millions with them along with every large city and religious site which will be irradiated for centuries.

Not if they want to go out in a blaze of glory. Remember, in my scenario Israel is about to become extinct and its people who survive the new holocaust scattered once more to the four corners of the Earth.

jim, the rest of the world isn't as hung up on apocalyptic thinking as you and many other americans are. but please, feel free to post the whole story. might be interesting to parse.

Egypt allowed at least one Israeli and 11 American warships to pass through the Suez Canal as an Iranian flotilla approaches Gaza. Egypt closed the canal to protect the ships with thousands of soldiers, according to the British-based Arabic language newspaper Al Quds al-Arabi.
