City officials in Chicago describe as shocking and troubling a study saying that attendance at museums and other cultural ammenities there consists largely of white, educated and affluent residents, reports the Chicago Sun-Times.

The study, by the University of Chicago, says the institutions "are not successfully engaging households with poor socioeconomic backgrounds ... Areas with high concentrations of African Americans and Latinos have among the lowest participation rates."

Next we'll hear that attendance at 50 Cent concerts is predominantly young folks and they need to branch out to the over 50 crowd.
 
Nah. They will just redefine what constitutes museums and culture so that the math works out to be more 'diverse'.

Lets charge whitey $50 to get in & allow the underprivledged free admission & free bussing. Then we'll require the museums & galleries to have more ethnocentric artists & perhaps have a grafitti contest :shrug:

You think that’s a joke but one of the museums in town has a policy like that. If you bring in a form of government aid (Medicaid card, food stamp card etc..) you get in for $1

Students, children under 5, and military get in for $8 (with ID). Regular admission is $12.
