PARIS (AFP) – Mankind may have unleashed the sixth known mass extinction in Earth's history, according to a paper released by the science journal Nature.

Over the past 540 million years, five mega-wipeouts of species have occurred through naturally-induced events.

But the new threat is man-made, inflicted by habitation loss, over-hunting, over-fishing, the spread of germs and viruses and introduced species, and by climate change caused by fossil-fuel greenhouse gases, says the study.

Habitation loss. Must be written by those who never fly the friendly skies

gee, if it weren't based on the logical fallacy of affirming the consequent... these folks really want something to be wrong, because it supports their discontents. sort of.

I think it's pure BS.
Many animals are open season year round here.....
rabbits, beaver, squirrel, wild pig, and they are talking about expanding
the deer season because of over-population.
They've already said if you hit a deer with a vehicle, you don't need to report it now.

You must die, I alone am best!

Of course its BS
but even if it were true
the loss of those species is no big shakes
this lil dust mote has evolved sentient life
it really hasn’t anything more to offer

besides if its happened five times in a row
then a sixth will be good to clean out the dross
isn’t that what extinctions are for anyway?

(the foregoing was all tongue in cheek)
Or was it?
