Just kind of weird how "directed" it is, unlike the smoke.

The smoke from the fires looks about as "directed" to me. Slightly more southwest, but the winds are coming from the large continental mass, where the air's warmer, and heading towards the cooler ocean air.

Both look directed. The smoke is from a larger area but notice, the dust isn't from the coast. It's from midstate.
