Here's an ugly subject. How do you check for testicular cancer and the like? Do you have to go in and let the doc cop a feel or get blood tests or what?

screening for testicular cancer is usually a 'cop a feel' kinda thing. if they decide to do more tests, i don't know what. prostate cancer screening is a probe of course.

There is no way to make this thread a not funny one...I just know it.

Check yer nuts, errr terticles for any bumps or things outta the ordinary. Odd shapes. You have to, welll, roll em around a bit.

I'm having a real hard time typing this.....

As for prostate...we won't go there. No way I'm decribing that.

Check 'em while in the shower (somehow seems a bit less awkward while washing them).

Any lumps, bumps, weirdness then to the doxy we go (and pray he/she has warm hands).

Its amazing how ignorant people are about healthcare.

There is a simple blood test that is done as part of the routine screening in middle age and older males. Its called a "PSA" Prostate Specific Antigen level that is done in addition to the manual examination. Prostate cancer is one of the least deadly that men can get.

As for the testicles, you dont need a doctor to check those you can do it yourself. Testicular cancer is one of the more serious cancers for an older man if not caught early.

last i heard they were casting doubt on the accuracy of the PSA test. seems it isn't as accurate in younger patients. when i get home, i'll try to find the link for the article i read.
frequent urination with small amounts of urine is the typical first symptom of an enlarged prostate. i dont think too many of us here have to worry about that yet.

as far as testicular screening, they should be close to the same size with no lumps or hard spots.

Tom Green put it best with a song.

Play with your balls, squeeze your balls, have fun with your balls, touch your balls.

like what's been posted before check your nuts fairly regularly, standing in the shower when they are warm is easiest, roll them around check for lumps bumps, changes in size, that sort of thing. i am lead to believe that growths tend not to be painful so its important to manually give them a check.

i don't think that blood tests are necessarily needed at the early stages, a doctor can check you over and make a first point assesment from there.

Another way to tell is if you are experiencing one constantly going up and staying up for awhile, warm bath, as hot as you can take it , and then cool bathe as cold as you can take it, and if it doesnt come down, there's a prob.-best way is to go see the doc, cancer usually doesnt hurt until its to far gone.
