I'm serious. Have you ever got to a point in your life where you've honestly searched for god? Don't worry, you're answers are anonymous.

Sure I have. I wasn't always an atheist. Most of my extended family are quite devout. We still have a good time, but we don't discuss religion. Squiggs, It won't take mine either.

If you walked away then you obviously didn't believe it was god that you found.
Never "found" anything, Hex. Not, however, for lack of looking. You ever meet any "Jews for Jesus?"

You're not interpreting it the same way as I do. I was raised in the catholic church, and when I got old enough to understand what I was being taught, I had questions. When the catholics couldn't answer them, I looked at others. A lot of others. Do you know, for instance, that Scott Ross (founder of CBN) found god on an LSD trip. I have a problem with that. Also with Joseph Smith, who found god during a laudenum hallucination. I mean, when you come right down to it, judaism and all it's subsequent offshoots were founded by a guy who heard voices. What do we do with such people today? Sorry, I didn't mean to get off on a rant, just trying to clarify my position vis-a-vis religion. I didn't "walk away," I made an informed decision. I does not matter to me in the least whether anyone at all agrees with me, but I feel everyone has a right to believe what they will, I expect the same courtesy in return.

Try it this way: IMO, the true atheist does not believe that god does not exist, but that god cannot exist.

I've seldom found anything through church and it's rare that i even attend. But I do understand your position. What you describe is hardly unique.

If we could time travel, I've decided that I'm going back to the mountain. I want to hear God speak to the Jews, personally. Then I'll know whether my lack of belief is worthwhile.

i have never sought god out, i have questioned many things that are futile to ask answers for but i have never thought it necessary to request a response from a god.
