her civic duty

Ku'u has been called for jury duty ... she went for selection yesterday and was all ready to give her "I do not believe it is my civic duty to serve" speech but they didn't ask her that question .. they asked everyone else except her :D

Needless to say, she'll be gone for a few more days ...

She should tell them she's psychic, so it will be very simple for her to decide the defendants guilt or innocence. They'll prolly escort her right to her car. :D

today, she wore a sleevless blouse, wondering if she'll get kicked out because the dress code says "no tank tops" .. I explained the difference between a "tank top" and a "sleeveles blouse" (of which, there really is no difference) and she was telling me that the dress code is kinda strict (considering we live in Hawai'i and the only people I know who own a suit belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints :D) ... so, that brings a question of discrimination ... what if all you own are shorts and tank tops? What then? Does the fact that you have only beach close directly correspond with your intelligence level and whether or not you know right from wrong? Hmmmmm.....

*starts chanting*
DOWN WITH THE DRESS CODE! DOWN WITH THE DRESS CODE!

hehehehehehe

I thought beach attire is supposed to be the dress code in Hawaii. :confuse3:

Bet the judges wear shorts and tank tops under those robes too.:grumpy:

I'm back. Civic duty my ass. All these people are telling me they're honored to be selected ... and I'm sitting there thinking I have better things to do with my life.

Why do I have to be punished and made to sit in a courtroom for 4 days, because of the actions of someone "innocent until proven guilty"? Obviously, if she were innocent, she wouldn't be there in the first place ;)

The just excused three people from serving, they all said the same thing, which in essence was, the Bible says "thou shalt not serve jury duty" :tardbang:

One thing I like about it though, is that I got to meet 12 other people, who I wouldn't normally give the time of day to. It's not that they're not nice people, they seem to be, but judging from their looks and background, I wouldn't ever cross their paths in real life.

I probably won't see them again, but they were a nice crowd to be with while we sat there for hours on end, doing nothing but waiting for the judge :D
