What is this bit about CNN being Murderous liars? I followed the link and read the interview and article, yet I fail to see that it makes any real point?

I am sure you are a lover of Fox News because everything there is conservative slanted. In my mind they are the Liars for repeatedly reporting about the finding of weapons of mass destruction, which to date have still not been found.

So what's your beef with CNN? Make it real to me....

BTW I have to give you credit for being better than the average conservative, who by now would be saying "shut up faggot" to me as a part of your argument. At least you are attempting to implement facts, albeit distorted ones...I must give credit where it is due

But I read that whole bit and all I got out of it is that CNN was thwarted from reporting some things because it could endanger others. The US Army kicked Geraldo Rivera and that other guy out of Iraq for reporting news that may have endangered troops....I suppose that was wrong as well?

Come on....Convince me with actual facts that CNN are "murderous liars" I dare you to try.

So as for insults I handed out another one I was proud of today. On the Seattle Mariners message board, I pissed this guy off so he's all like "you kicked a sleeping lion", so I am all like "I am sure you are a sleeping lion, I am so scared I nearly dozed off"....well ok it isn't that funny but for some reason I couldn't stop laughing about it.

PS I hope Gonz realizes I don't mean my insult to attack him personally, but only his politics.

I implore anyone that reads this thread with any passing interest to take ten minutes of your time and read what's at Gonz's SHUT DOWN CNN link and honestly tell me if you agree that that in any way begins to explain why CNN are "murderous liars" I want to know if anyone else see's it because I surely don't.

i think its contradictions between the first interview and second piece, and that cnn didn't use their information to tell the truth, instead they hid it away. i can't honestly remember, it became background noise in the shoutiness of the original rant.

there's a thread somewhere in the rw but if you search for cnn +murderous +liars you get 4000 gabillion threads ;)

Ever consider that Gonz's sig might be a bit of a tongue in cheek thing - as a reply to someone else's sig that reads "Shut down the Bush administration - they are murderous liars" ?

Even if it isn't it's his opinion & he's entitled to it, so slinging insults is not likely to change much about it.

i am unconvinced by 90% of posts, especially those in the real world and including a good number of my own.

in reality i just ignore most threads until i am astounded far enough by the comment to post. most of the rants i hear now drift off into background noise of dribbly shoutiness.

If you must move it..... But first let me make my case for it being here. First off I am a proud lunatic and I know it. Second, I think the idea that CNN should be shut down for being "murderous liars" is a very lunatic fringe kind of concept, and therefore this thread is in the right place.

What good would have been done if they reported all the details? Firstly a lot of people would have been killed, secondly, our government knew all this stuff full well when they supported Saddam at the beggining of the regime...it's not like we'd have gone in to save the poor Iraqis because of the horrible atrocities that only CNN knew about.

If you honestly think we conquered Iraq to end Sadaams oppression, I have beachfront property in North Dakota to sell you. It's about the powerstructure in the region, and us getting our hands on more power.

I can just about guarantee good ol Fox News knew a lot they didn't report too...they just were smart enough nev er to admit it.

Was there wrongdoing by CNN? Of course, but it's far from them being murderous liars.

Oh and another thing....look at Saudi Arabia...another oppressive dictatorship that is despised by its people....they kill their dissidents same as Saddam did, but they are our bbuddys politically so we look the other way.

Isreal has execution squads and they arn't as surgical and presise as we like to think....a lot of innocent blood is spilled but they're our buds so we look the other way....

it goes on and on...if a nation is politically friendly with the US we turn a blind eye, and our people assume it's all ok....because we'd overthrow the bad guys if they were right?

Actually, the CNN sig was there first, the Bush sig was the tongue in cheek one.

Oh yeah, the issue.

It's hard to say after the fact if what they did was really wrong. On one hand, if they had reported the facts from the beginning, perhaps action would have been taken earlier, saving Iraqi's lives, and saving American lives by doing this thing a few years ago, before Saddam had a chance to build his army back up. But, alas, that is all just a perhaps. The reality of it is that there probably wouldn't have been much done about it, the Iraqi's would still be dead, along with others that reported on the incidents, and we still wouldn't have gone in til we did, hence the end game is the same.

However, one fact does remain. CNN is there to report news. Journalists have an obligation to report the news, whether or not it makes people happy. They certainly did not fulfill that obligation. Again though, if they had, we can almost guarantee there would have been nothing even resembling free press in Iraq from that day on. It's a hard call.

i suspect that the government and the other new networks knew a great deal they did not broadcast or pass on. regimes like hussein's often enforce broadcast restrictions [the bbc admitted that in nearly every broadcast from baghdad] and no doubt enforced them stringently.
