Right now, the federal DOT regulations say no more than 11 hours driving per day. After 11 hours (or a combined 14 on duty) one must stop & rest for 10 hours or more before being allowed to drive.

I'd be all for the 16 hours rule. If I were running the show, it'd be...a driver can do whatever the driver wants for 14 hours, then the driver must be off for 10 before resuming.

The day truckers start having 25% of the accidents per mile that commuters have is the day we cut back on the driving time. Until then, get the hell out of the way, I'm a professional.
