Today is the 10th anniversary of the storm of the century. Remember that beast that paralyzed the northern half of the state for a whole week? Didn't it take like 3 days and 15 people with chainsaws to unearth your folks mountain property?

It took 5 days with chainsaws for them to make the two miles to paved road. Jeez, has it been that long? Remember sitting on drifts in the graveyard? Didn't even have to bend yer knees.

30 inches of heavy, wet snow with about 3 inches of black ice in the city. 4-5 feet up in your parents neck of the woods. Second worst tree killing terror that I've seen in the confines of my lifetime.

Most power utilities run above ground here leaving them exposed to falling trees and sheer ice accumulation weight. Our pipes are also only like 8 inches underground, leaving them in danger of being mauled by a blast of super cold. Such a nasty storm only hits us like once every 5 years.
