High school humor meets HS Administration

In his speech, Stoklasa planned to say, “You have given us the minimum required attention and education to master any station at any McDonald’s anywhere. For that we thank you. Of course, I’m only kidding. Eagleville is a fine institute of higher learning, with superb faculty and staff.” He said all of the jokes were simply segues to build up the school with compliments.

But those in attendance at Eagleville’s graduation ceremony never heard that second part of Stoklasa’s speech because the school’s principal asked that the microphone be turned off when he varied from the speech he said he was going to deliver.

And for that, they withheld his diploma for a couple days.

Ah, Eagleville. The original wide place in the road.

Kid's got a sense of humor at least. Sad part is, he'd have to commute at least half an hour to get to a McDonald's from Eagleville.

“You have given us the minimum required attention and education to master any station at any McDonald’s anywhere. For that we thank you."

That's about what I was quallified to do out of high school.

Sadly, I'm forced to side with the idiot administrators.

Holton said she withheld the diploma because Stoklasa had agreed to make changes to his speech and did not follow through with that promise.

Had they shut him down without that I'd be on his side.

I wonder how schools are ever allowed to withhold a diploma. Assuming a student did their job, it's not the schools property, is it?

Oh, they gave it to him a few days later. However, he wasn't allowed to get it along with his classmates.

Oh my he did something wrong
in a nominally official school capacity
he mocked the school
(although it is\was probably a true stamement)
and was slightly penalized for it. Oh the horror!

pretty much all one is qualified for out of highschool....that and mal wart
Not really. There are college-credit courses in high schools now for the kids that have the accelerated curriculum to do it. My neice is taking a few now.

Me kid's GF has through attending comm. college
and taking AP courses already fulfilled nearly all her
requirements for Frosh and Sophomore years of the
four year university she will be attending.

That is the norm not the exception at that school.

That's what I (and a bunch of others) did as well. In most high schools, like everything else, you're gonna get out what you put in. It's just easier to put in the effort in some environments than others.

At my high school, when you walked across the stage, you only got handed the diploma holder. You had to go get your actual diploma afterwards from the snack bar... the line on the left was last names A-D, then E-H, and so on. It gave them one last chance to "lose" your diploma if you did something at the ceremony... like, say, float around a beach ball. They only print diplomas once a year.

The snack bar??? My school didn't have a snack bar. The closest we came was a coffee machine...and I do mean coffee. This was before the latte, or the cappuccino. We had four flavors back then. Black, black with sugar, with sugar and cream, and with cream and no sugar. Some machines served hot' chocolate', but we didn't have that choice. Times were hard, then. :lol2:

The graduation ceremony was held at the football stadium. There's enough profit to be made off nachos and sodas during football games that they felt it was justified to build the snack bar, and the building doubled as the diploma-giving-out place that night.

You really need an editor tonight. :D

BTW...Our football stadium had no snack bar, either. We were tough enough to either bring our own grubbage, or last long enough to hit the Burger Chef down the hill after the game. :grinyes:

We had a water fountain. 6, actually.

I guess I shouldn't mention the Taco Bell Express franchise my high school had on campus, then...

Depends. I think mine did if you did something although you would not have even been allowed to attend graduation.
