(AP)
LEPANTO, Ark. -- Kendric Smith scored 10 touchdowns, on runs ranging from 1 to 54 yards, and it still wasn't enough for Hughes High School.
Smith broke the state record for touchdowns in a game, the last coming in overtime, but Hughes lost 73-72 Friday night to East Poinsett County. He also scored on runs of 13, 20, 28, 35, 40, 45, 52 and 53 yards while breaking the Arkansas record of eight touchdowns in a game set by Alvin Bell of Little Rock in 1919 and matched by Chris James of Osceola in 2003.
Quarterback Brett Hardin had 835 all-purpose yards for East Poinsett County in the meeting of previously winless teams.
East Poinsett County (1-6) and Hughes (0-5) were tied 66-66 at the end of regulation. Hughes scored first in overtime on a 1-yard run by Smith, but missed on a two-point conversion. East Poinsett County responded with a 2-yard touchdown run by Hardin and won the game on an extra point by Joseph Peridore.
LOL! Holy hell!
