First one got my location just fine.

The 2nd one did the same, but through the whois command and the system just resends your ISP info to you.

The second one got closer i.e. Calgary,buts thats several thousand miles and a Province away.maybe I'm not where I think I am.

Maybe it tracks your ISP gateway? Because it misses me by a nice 700km or so...

The second one, like Luis said, is simply a whois. The only info it'll give you is what info your ISP submitted as the main registration site (maybe the headquarters of the business?).

My main hop is in Kansas City, but the info says Atlanta because thats where my ISP is based out of.

It put me in St. Louis, which isn't too far off, but I know if I do a Whois on my IP, it puts me in Sullivan, so it seems a little odd.

Maybe it's the whois on your IP versus the whois on your ISP?
