(CBS) In an exclusive interview with CBS News Anchor Dan Rather, Saddam Hussein denied his al-Samoud missiles were in violation of U.N. mandates and indicated he will resist demands that he destroy them. He also challenged President Bush to a live broadcast debate on the looming war.

The al-Samoud 2 is at the heart of this week's dispute with the U.N. weapons inspectors. Chief inspector Hans Blix told Iraq it has until the end of the week to begin destroying the missiles. But the Iraqis have always said they don't violate the range limits placed on Iraq by U.N. resolutions.

This info has been available quite a while. Its not as damaging as you might think. Kind of a non issue actually. Unless they choose to play it up. which seems to be the way its heading...

Blix told him Saturday to destroy the missiles. He told Blix (the UN) NO. This part is new. It's a flagrant violation of the cease-fire agreement. He's (saddam) now testing the waters. He might want to test his telescope Saturday night. That'll be the last thing he ever tests.

He has offered that the UN test fire random selections from that arsenal, claiming that they don't violate the range specification. It was a fair offer and its being ignored.

No need to be fair. He signed a cease fire agreement that said he had to play puppet to the UNs puppeteer. It doesn't matter what else happens, that's the agreement. He refused. Smoking gun. Vioation (x infinity).

If you've never read about Neville Chamberlain & Hitler pre-WWII, you should. There are striking similarities to them & Chirac/saddam. Nip it in the bud before it's too late.

Now you're resorting to "Screw the truth. Lets kill someone." What if these weapons do fall within the allowed range?

What if they don't. I didn't sign the agreement. Kill someone? I'd be happy if he took his entourage & just left.

This is why this argument never ends. The bar keeps getting higher & higher. I'm for stopping him because enough is enough.

No shit though, test 'em.

People are just a little too anxious to start the killing.

Just out of curiosity, were you guys this adamant about not starting the killing when we were bombing Kosovo without approval by the UN or NATO?

There were no alterior motives to be considered in those events. Much as I didn't get crazy when Reagen sent the marines to free the college students who weren't being held hastage....:D
