SARASOTA COUNTY -- Actor Jeffrey Jones, a convicted sex offender who must register his address with authorities, was arrested Thursday and charged with failing to notify the Sheriff's Office that he had moved, authorities said.
Jones, 57, best known for his role as an uptight high school principal in the 1980's comedy "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," was required to register as a sex offender after his 2003 conviction for employing a teenage boy to pose for sexually explicit photos.
Jones moved to Sarasota and registered with the Sheriff's Office last year, according to an arrest report.
An office manager at a Central Sarasota Parkway apartment complex told deputies Jones moved out of the apartment in March, the report said.
Deputies found him Thursday at a home in the 1500 block of Mellon Way, a street near Bahia Vista Street and Cattlemen Road.
Jones showed them a copy of his 2003 registration form, but offenders are required to notify authorities within 48 hours of a move, said Sheriff's Sgt. Chuck Lesaltato.
Jones, who was appeared in "Sleepy Hollow" and "Beetlejuice," faces third-degree felony charges.
He was released from police custody Thursday after registering his new address.
