Many say that America is hated because it abuses its power and because of its unfare foriegn policy. I think that at least some Americans believe it's no more than jealousy of Americas power and yet most if not all first rate nations abuse their power to their own benefit.

What do you think?

(Please check whether or not you're an American citizen)

I think it's a bit more complicated than that. I think that, for the most part, foreign people dislike America because it's America. That's how they are raised. I know personally I know little of other country's policies, but that doens't mean I don't have a general opinion on 'em. I think it's kinda the same. There are those out there that are educated and current in the news to form an opinion of America (probably dislike), but I don't feel that is the majority.

Does it make sense?

America does abuse it's power and majority of the worlds resources but that said it also does a lot of good. However, America is hated mainly due to it's actions in the political arena....many American's will tell you that America steps out of it's bounds one too many times but i feelas if they fail to realize how dangerous the other nations are and how much a wet dream it would be for some of them to see USA tip over and fall.

I doubt that people hate USA because of power jealousy, is not the ammount of power or the power at all, is how you use it.

You'd be surprised....many, many nations have much more malicious intents had they had the power of US..many feel that it is a false leader. I would say it is a amaglamation of both.

Well, indeed I can not speak for the whole world, nor about their pretentions. I guess i went a bit far with the extrapolation :D

But what i know from heart is how most Latin countries feel (as my previous post).

much more compex. we do have the unfair foreign policy, but we also have been known to try to Americanise everything. and as luis said its not the amount of power but how its used

Much more complex...I feel its our arrogance that pisses most off. We treat industrialized nations as though we just beat them in a pecker contest...If we give a country anything, we treat them as a beggar that owes us the rest of his life....etc...etc...

Power and unfair foreign policy is part of it, but it's much more complex. You left out religion entirely, and that's part of it too.

not as much as you mgiht think chcr. though i do admit it can be a problem when religious followers try to convert everyone or cram it down everyones throat it can be a problem, its not as bad as some countries that are run as theocracies
