The funny thing is...
The west will maintain the 'moral high ground' in this issue and
not resort to the same tactics.
We have the ability to carpet bomb vast inhabited portions of Iraq
into dust. Be assured there are many that wouldn't mind seeing that done.
But we won't do it.
We won't because it would serve absolutely no purpose.
Just as this terrorist act served no purpose whatsoever.
How many Arabs saw that video and cheered just as many danced in the streets after 9-11? Those are the people who are our opponents in this conflict. I have to run on the possibly false assumption that the vast majority of the world’s population held the despicable actions on that video to be the vilest thing they've seen this week.

In the interest of a good beheading, the news failed to mention...well more likely it got overlooked...that as a Palestinian roadside bomb (what a novel approach) blew 2 Jewish soldiers into bits & pieces. Those Palestinians, you know, the ones that want peace just as much as the Jews-yea, those Muslims, well, it seems they had some sandwich baggies handy & they scooped up parts of the 2 dead Jewish soldiers & carried tham around & cheered & whooped it up. They will turn them over for a proper Jewish burial if Israel leaves the West Bank.
So, they fly into buildings full of civilians. They also blow up busses full of civilians. They will cut your head off & show it on TV. They will kill you where you stand...if they could.
Yet people get pissy at us for making them take off their clothes.

In this latest conflict to replace the west being against the (east) commies which were personified by the Soviet's is now the west against the east in the person of some nebulous Muslim movement.
Man oh man the Soviets with their nukes and the mutually assured destruction idea certainly seems like a less nasty situation than what we face today.
Well OK the cold war went on over 40+ years, this one will as well.
