EAGLE, Colo. - The criminal case against Kobe Bryant case collapsed Wednesday as prosecutors said they had no choice but to drop the sexual assault charge because the NBA star's accuser no longer wanted to participate.

1. The Eagle court released the woman's name, inadvertantly, to the press, and the name was published. One of the reasons she said she didn't want to pursue the case.

2. The court agreeing that some of her actions before and after the alleged rape were to be allowed as evidence...specifically her sexual history...brought about by the panties that she had that were stained with DNA from Kobe and somebody else.

If that's playing dirty, then so is parading the defendant around on international TV before the trial, and judging him in the press. If they shield the victim, they should also shield the perpetrator. quid pro quo...
 
Oh great. Another reason for the sharks to continue circling. Out of Court Settlements should be made illegal.

March 1, 2005 — Kobe Bryant and the woman who accused him of sexual assault have agreed in principle to settle the civil lawsuit she filed against the NBA star, ABC News has learned.

Sources told ABC news that Bryant and his accuser have agreed to a settlement for emotional and other injuries she said she sustained in connection with the alleged rape. Sources say the parties are meeting this week to work out the details of the settlement, which could be signed by both parties by the end of the week.
