Lighters banned, matches ok

Some members of Congress, citing the case of shoe-bomber Richard Reid, feared terrorists could use lighters to ignite bombs.

Reid tried unsuccessfully to use a match to ignite his bomb during a trans-Atlantic flight in 2001.

The TSA still allows passengers to have a few matchbooks, a decision based partly on the inability of current technology to detect matches.

So we use the fact that he tried using a match to ban lighters, but it's still ok to have matches? :banghead:

Since when are you TSA Sgt Gato?

When we have to follow the same rules. AMC is not totally independent from the FAA. We have to follow the same rules for passengers they do, or the airlines get upset.

Ahh, you dig in AF trash bins. I see ;)

There's a huge difference between confiscation and dumpster-diving. I still have shit in my Lost and Found locker confiscated from DEC 2004 that people should've known better than to carry through security. A matching pair of really nice daggers...blade length about 22". An M7 bayonet w/M8A1 scabbard, Swiss Army knives, scissors of all lengths, and even a non-working cellular phone. (If you can't prove it works, you can't have it on the airplane).

It's amazing to me the things it never occurs to people that they won't be allowed to carry on the plane.

 Officers... :D Military people are supposed to be the easiest to anti-hijack because we hear about the 'ignorant' civilians all the time. Unfortunately, there's always one dumb SOB who doesn't get the message. :grinyes: Because of that SOB, though, Goodwill is going to have a brisk market in confiscated goods fairly soon. :D

Because he couldn't get the matches to stay lit. I'm looking forward to a lifetime supply of Zippo's. The silver lining. ;)
If you get a good trench lighter let me know :brow:
