Prepare for the mass releases of opposing crap.

A Christian education makes teenage boys less permissive, according to research out today.

Boys at private Anglican and Catholic schools are more likely to oppose sex before marriage and be less tolerant of pornography.

They are also less likely to feel depressed or consider suicide, according to a survey of 13,000 teenagers by Professor Leslie J Francis from the University of Wales, Bangor.

This is London

So, it's still the question....Is this what they believe, or what they've been trained that people want to hear?

As thumbody that jus had a hand in creatin'
one of them boyz, Lil

It is what they KNOW!!!!

Since the study was anonymous, I don't see how you could ask that question. It's, to say the least, insulting.

I grew up Catholic myself.....I don't mean to insult, but I knew a lot of those kids.....Might just be a fluke of my area, but I was also in a church in Missouri that seemed to present the same problem.....Also had an Apostolic church out here in Colorado....This is most likely just over pressure from the adults of the church, but these kids knew exactly what to say, but also knew exactly how to get away with the opposite....So as I said, I didn't mean to insult anything or anyone, and maybe I've just had bad luck, but there ya go

Let's assume 70% of those kids lied. The religious kids I mean. Compare that to the 87% of publik educashun stewdents that answered the questionairre during an orgy. I'll take 30% as a win.

and I won't argue with you there

In one environment you have a pervasive
"hook up til you get an STD or an abortion" thing goin' on.

I the other, the onus is on following some arcane rules
in a stodgy old book.

At least the religious kids realize what they are engaging in is wrong?

Getting preggers in the sister school my kid attended was instant expulsion.

He did say that his school had the lowest percentage of teen pregnancies
0% as it was an all boys Jesuit Catholic School. heh heh

Actually there is something to be said for separating
the sexes in HS! Many advantages, NO downsides.

Well mebbe one. I heard many of the gurls due to the lack
of boyz and the fact that they all wore them plaid skirt uniforms
would neglect personal hygiene, you know like showering
make up AND shaving lol

It was quite a riot to see one of these little honey’s at the weekend
football game looking like a freakin’ incandescent hottie
when during the week she was as plain as paper.

On the gurls side they taught them to work
like mad and follow instructions

On the boyz side they taught them to think.

Sounds like a hella good deal to me.

Who wouldn't want a hard werkin' hottie
that follows ORDERS?!? hee hee

As I've aged and had my hormones count redused to a tolerable level I certainly see this & generally agree. I'm just surprised nobody brought Gloria Allred or some other heavy duty equality wench into this & put an end to it.

All in due time...
I guess religion is the last refuge of tradition.

Imagine 1200 teenage boyz
getting to be Boyz?

Oh the horror
the horror!

Many stories he told were priceless!

After many of them, I'm all like:

"Dood didn't the teacher get pissed?"

"No way Dad".

As I said, I unfortunately have had very bad luck with religion thus far...( went to a mormon service last week though, loved that, so who knows.....think I may be too old at this point to take up something new along those lines though ) Traditions that I have learned have come partially from the different religions that I have been a part of and the several that I have studied independantly (bits and pieces from all around mostly) Any other traditions I've had to create on my own, usually from going as close as possible to the opposite example that my parents set......In the end, I didn't turn out half as cynical as I thought I would and I think a morally decent person....The thing that lacks is the consistancy that one gains from being a part of something strong for their young life.....Yes, I've come out decent, but with the self-doubt that comes along with "creating" ones own personality and traditions.

You are never too old to find your truth, wherever it lay.

Lil we is Atheists!
I saw to it he had the opportunity (he actually wanted to go) there.

The concept was to get an edumahcation and those shiny
pieces of paper that say you are better than everyone else.

And I don't recommend you go around 'laying' the truth as Goznog suggested heh

Hehe, atheism unfortunately never worked for me very well......Lived through a few too many things I shouldn't have for that.... Probably the main thing that kept me from religion at this point is that when I was younger I wanted the family and crap that religion is supposed to bring, but it didn't....I got shunned, thrown to the curb, and worse throughout the years....Organized religion has burned me on more than one level....
