Everyone remembers Band Aid (Do They Know It's Christmas) and USA for Africa (We Are the World), and some of you might even have hear the Canadian group Northern Lights (Tears are not enough)

I'm trying to track down a recording of the parody of the Northern Lights song, called Beers are not enough. Without too much success, I might at. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Are you certain that's the title? If so, I can check limewire, but it's be mp3 format.

Might try half.com. They get some off the wall things listed from time to time. I'm not familiar with the original or the parody, so I have no idea how widely circulated it might once have been. I do haunt a lot of sites for recorded music though, so I'll check. Any additional details you remember will help.

Yeah, I'm sure of it. Heard it often enough ... never thought to record it. ..

There's an idea. I'll call the local radio station. They must have a copy of it.

I wouldn't bank on it. Depending on format, they may have purged it years ago. If it was the same time period as the others you mentioned, it was probably not on CD or mp3, which most stations use exclusively now.

That made me cry laughing when he did that.

I have Beers are Not Enough running through my head now. Thanks for that. Anyway, I can't remember who did it. But if I find it I'll letcha know.

Still no beers, but I did come across the original for those who haven't yet had the pain. lolololol It's a trip and a half!

Here's the list of performers from wikipedia - I went there cause sometimes they list the parodies too.

I doubt it. Odds are he was too busy to do a 'benefit' record. 'specially if they found room for Paul Schaffer.

My first response to your email was, send us a picture...lol...all kidding aside, I don't know either. The only thing I came up with doing a search was Proud To Be Canadian by Arrogant Worms that has the line "Beers Are Not Enough" in it. But I don't know what tune it plays to. Good luck with your search!

Thanks for listening to the Spirit of Rock!

Damnit.

Daaaaaaang.

Why not hit like...Muchmusic or some radio station that has been around a long time.

Toronto's Q107.1 fm http://www.q107.com/home/ would have been playing it and definitely around back then. That's where I would have heard it. They're still playing the same metal/classic rock format.

I googled forever and couldn't find a mention but for the link rob posted. Didja try writing that guy? It's like the song never existed, but it did. You know it, Paul believes he has heard it, I know it. It DID exist, really it did.

Also, try this:

Don't contact the biggest radio station afoot, because it's likely staffed with corporate hacks who know as much about carrot souffle as they do rock and roll. Try a small local station, preferably with an older air personality. THAT'S where the music lover DJs are.

The small local stations weren't likely to be playing anything english to begin with. Of the 4 english radio stations who play RnR now, this reply is from 2 of them. A third has since gone all news, leaving only 92.5 CFQR, who were playing Glen Miller back then.
