Sen. Arlen Specter Introduces Presidential Signing Statements Legislation

Legislation proposed by Sen. Arlen Specter — similar to the Presidential Signing Statements Act of 2006, which Specter also introduced — instructs courts to actually ignore a presidential statement when interpreting an Act of Congress.

"Presidential signing statements can render the legislative process a virtual nullity, making it completely unpredictable how certain laws will be enforced," Specter said. "This legislation reinforces the system of checks and balances and separation of powers set out in our Constitution."

It just seems to me that we need a way to give law enforcement
officials, and security people, the authority they need that the current administration
is determined to block so that they 'can't' be efficient, or even do the job.

Security people? You mean the $7.25/hour moron riunning the gate at the Kroger warehouse or the $10.79/hour fools at the airport (they're federalized doncha know).

If one isn't a specific law enforcement offficial then they should have no power (if that means changing some laws, so be it)
