Most depressing album

It may be relaxing, but the lyrics are sure as hell painful and depressing. The whole thing is Roger Waters pining on about his dead dad and destroyed relationships and prejudice and nuclear armagedon.

Hhmmm - I kinda think Joni Mitchell will feature in my top 10 list.

Temple of the Dog (Temple of the Dog) is rather melancholy too.

( ) by Sigur Ros is right up there with the depressing ones (or should that be down there?)

Pearl Jam's Vitalogy

And I reckon Joy Division's 'Closer' ranks too (probably didn't help the come-down from the various drugs I was on when listening to it)

That's the album he made after he found out he was dying? That would get my vote.
Yep. The first song he wrote after he found out, "Keep Me in Your Heart for a While" is in the lyrics thread in KK.

i find NIN's "the downward spiral" to be depressing in an oddly uplifting sort of way.

but there are two albums that make me want to die, especially when listened to repetitively:
evanescence : fallen
and
dashboard confessional : swiss army romance.
laugh if you wish. oh god i hate dashboard confessional... solely for how it makes me feel.

NIN: downward Spiral
Switchblade Symphony: any of their albums
REM out of time
Depeche Mode:violator
