Why is the National League struggling so much? Age is one reason. There are three big stars in the National League, and two of them (Bonds and Roger Clemens) are in their 40s. The Senior Circuit has never looked so senior. Apparently, the most frequently used performance enhancer in the National League is Viagra.

That's because it's more difficult to find actual all-around athletes than just straight hitters or just plain pitchers. The actual athlete demands more respect, though.

Increase their salaries by a few million so you get new and younger baseball players. Then you’ll get more flaming activists bitching about how much they get paid. More sponsors from big companies. BAM! More interest in the national league. Players feel happy. More people want to join professionally. It's all about the science of money. : P

Paying them more sounds great and all, till the extra expense for the salaries is offloaded directly into ticket prices cause the adminny people can't THINK AHEAD, thereby making it prohibitive for people to go to the games, so teams and owners can't afford the salaries, so baseball ends up as suckage.
