took the dog for our daily walk this afternoon. as usual he bolted about 50 yards ahead of me.
when i caught up with him, he was standing at the base of the tree looking up. all of a sudden, this grey mass lands with a thud about 2 feet behind the dog. it was a squirrel. fool thing fell out of the tree. needless to say, the dog gave chase immediately. the dog was just about to snap onto its tail when the squirrel juked to the right under a fallen branch. the dog made a great adjustment to get around the branch, but the squirrel made it to the nearest tree and to safety.
the dog gave me a "did ya see that?" look and then trotted off to find something else to sniff and pee on.
