Okay...NOW he's starting to look guilty...

Sources tell Fox News that the 27-year-old woman could have been beaten, hit over the head, strangled or even poisoned.

They believe she was killed in her house on Dec. 23, the night before her husband, Scott Peterson (search), reported her missing. The autopsy results, which could determine the exact cause of death, are expected in about two weeks.

Several pieces of evidence point to possible attempts by Peterson to cover up foul play, sources said.

They point out that various chemicals were found on the mop he possibly used to clean the kitchen floor on Dec. 24, even though a cleaning maid had visited the house Dec. 23. Peterson told investigators the maid only finished cleaning half of the floor, but the maid has denied that to police.

Moreover, sources said Peterson vacuumed the living room on Dec. 24, in addition to washing his clothes. He told police his clothes smelled from fishing. But sources say his fishing gear did not appear "used" and that Scott wasn't in the habit of cleaning his own clothes – he'd always left them for his wife.

Investigators are still searching for missing items they believe belong to Scott: a 55-gallon drum, for which he had a receipt, but whose disappearance he could not explain; several large, cement blocks; several fishing weights; and fishing hooks.

Still too many questions, but the fact that a man who never washed his clothes since before marriage, or, presumably, didn't mop floors because he had maid service, he was certainly up to something...

I was reserving judgement until I saw the part about his cleaning. Not that men don't know how, but, when the wife takes over, the wife takes over. ;)

As one of the defenders of this guy (innocent until proven guilty) I'm beginning to think he'll need a lethal injection in 15-25.

I was defending him, too...until I read that. We can explain away 99% of that, but cleaning up after a maid? Doing his own laundry? (without being asked)

i guess he picked the wrong day to be fastidious. and to take up a number of new hobbies. ;)

1. Every red-blodded American male knows that you clean up before the maid gets there...so the maid won't think you're a total slob. ;)

2. He'd been fishing for years before the murder of his wife.

I thought it was "Who Cares, I hired her & I can fire her if she don't like it".

i'm interested in how he's incorportating large cement blocks into his fishing regime. :D

In case he reels in a really viscious fish and he has to club it with the cement blocks. :D

i feel sorry for the swans, they have a hard enough time with lead fishing weights wihtout accidentally swallowing a concrete slab.

Okay...lets take each bit of 'evidence' seperately, because taken as a whole, it looks damning, but, is it?

1. 55 gallon drum.

He owned a fertilizer business. I don't know about you folks in Europe, but here in the US, you either ship by rail (extremely large freight car), barrel (55 gallon drum), or pick-up truck load. Also...55 gallon drums are not individually numbered per-se.

2. Cement blocks

They only say 'several', but one can also assume that they could have been used in his business. You can stack them in order to keep several ingredients seperate until they are ready to mix.

3. Several fishing weights.

Let's be serious. The man said he was going fishing, and fishing requires weights.

4. Fishing hooks.

See #3.

I'm not saying he's innocent, but even a public defender can make that 'evidence' look flimsy at best.

Only if you're maid is hired by your wife. :D

If he owned a fertilizer business, wouldn't he be buying 55 gal drums in bulk? Why the hell would he just buy one? :hmm:

...also, you guys neglected to mention his new improved "beach boy" look. He said his hair got that color swimming in somebody's pool....puhleeze. If there was that much chlorine in there it would have eaten his clothes off and his eyeballs out of his head.

Absolutely. He was clearly trying to run away. That makes him look more guilty than anything else, IMO.

Depends on the scope of the delivery, and how much scratch he had when he made his purchase... How many 55 gallon drums do you buy when you need them for your business, Q?. That would give us an idea...

That wasn't mentioned in the post I quoted...I never gave it much thought, as most folks I know personally (male or female) don't change the color of their hair. He also may of changed it just so he'd be less recognizable to folks on the street who have already pronounced him guilty before this new evidence...

I don't use 55 gal drums in my business...and I don't buy one tile at a time.:p
