The Sarasota Herald Tribune says some schools in Florida are so worked up over the thought of anything smacking of Christianity appearing in classes that they are banning seasonal celebrations altogether.

In this year’s winter concert at Freedom Elementary School in East Manatee students will be singing about American and patriotism instead of about C-----mas and the holidays. Even snowflakes are verboten among the classroom decorations.

"There's a lot of rules and regulations out there," said Freedom Principal Gary Holbrook. "You're trying to be respectful of everyone."

I would just like to remind everyone who's unhappy at this that you let it happen. If these bozos are left unopposed, they go even further. How about someone start a movement and perhaps a little protest march in front of the schools? Too much work, eh?
 
Now don't get the idea that I oppose Christmas being celebrated in the schools. But, as a classroom teacher(retired), I did object to the going overboard that frequently happened.

Class time being given to the decorating of the door for the contest.
Christmas carols being played during class over the address system.

I think the Florida system has just gone overboard -- the other way.

Yep, if we don't do something about those snowflakes de-moralizing our children this whole world will go down the drain.
 
Yes Prof as the current trend continues these things will continuously amaze us.
But where will people draw the line?
Become outraged and finally stand up?
I say the backlash has already begun.

while I am on the left even I will say it this way: Not until all church crap is gone will they be satisfied. I find that to be selective fairness/equality
