I just read this article, and was pleasantly surprised. Most folks now have never heard of Paul Robeson.

Nope. He was accused of having a penchant for communism. In his biography, you'll see that he did not agree with it. He just didn't like racism.

Absolutely correct. At the time the Soviets claimed that they were not racist, so that was what Paul Robeson liked. Give the man a cookie.

I'd have imagined him to be better known. Seems I've known of him forever. A man worthy of the honor. Spent much of his life in Europe because of the witch hunt for communists that was going on here.
