With the hoopla over the Reagan funeral & all the liberal media pundits absolutely obliterating 16 years worth of re-writing history before regaining their footing it has occured to me that I have forgotten-just what has liberal/socialist/communist regimes done in the last 50 years? I'm serious, I can't think of a single thing that that ideology has accomplished to better the world.

Abridged examples of our last few Presidents:

JFK, in a brilliant move, tells Brezhnev to leave Cuba or else....The Soviets acquiesce

LBJ tells the Vietnamese to step aside. They laugh at him.

Nixon opens trade with China.

Ford...well, there has to be an exception.

Carter...double digit unemployment. double digit inflation. double digit interest rates. Iran hostage crisis.

Reagan frees over 100 million people behind the iron curtain & is the reason for the Soviet Union collapsing. More than doubles the government tills while slashing taxes.

Bush-:shrug:
Clinton & Dubya - too early to tell. I could point out a number of faux pas' with Willie but I'll pass...for now.

So, help an old man out...what has the left actually done to make our world safer?

Perhaps this could be put in finer terms.
Following the fiasco of the Bay of Pigs invasion the Soviets sized up JFK for what he was this directly precipitated the Cuban missile crisis. Now history falsely tells us what a magnificent Hero Kennedy was for nearly causing a Nuclear exchange with the Soviet Union. He was all that and a bag-o-chips because he didn't allow nuclear missiles to be stationed 90 miles off of our shores. Hmm if they didn't think he was such a pussy following the failed silliness in the Bay of Pigs and our self-flagellating reaction then they'd never have tried the installation of missiles in Cuba.

Thankfully the CIA realized what a threat to national security he posed and blasted him! Better to shoot one American Presidents’ head off than to have 90 million American citizens incinerated! Later they had to blast RFK just to make sure there wouldn’t be any additional problems.

Now everyone knows LBJ started and lost the Vietnam war.
If Barry Goldwater had been elected in 64 the history books would be completely different.

Nixon, it's a crying shame about that silly burglary, a minor faux pas in his administration. An administration that was a truly great one indeed!
He opened the door to China and had to preside over the winding down of JFK's and LBJ's debacle in 'Nam.

I'll just leave this alone as he will certainly go down as 20th century’s worst President ever! Gave the Panama canal to the Red Chinese dang that’s right up there with taking campaign donations and selling nuclear guidance to them Like Billy-Boy!
He and Cliton will be vying for this honor for years!!! Don’t ask, don’t tell!!!

Now Reagan, history will show him to have been the best President of the century, FDR was a commie! Can you say social insecurity? Next time you get paid look at your pay stub under the FICA column and realize your employer has to match that number.
Guess what bunky if you were past a certain age on October 22, 1986 you’ll never see a dime of that money. Some one had to put a stop to socialism and Reagan was our man!

Oddly enough GWB is already well on his way to becoming the best President of the 21st century.

You ARE aware that Reagan instituted a payroll tax INCREASE in 1983 right? The very notion that Reagan was this enormous tax cutter and common mans hero is serious bunk. Taxes increased massively in his two terms as president. NOT decreased. In fact there were 13 distinct tax increases in his terms. He just called them "revenue enhancers" or something like that and the people bought it. But make no doubt that Reagans economic shell game was rife with tax increases. And Reaganomics has been a proven joke for some time. Trickle Down economies dont work.

Ive been doing that all week. Got a huge hole in my tongue because of it. What I find more dispicable is how certain conservatives are using this opportunity to either state ridiculous falsehoods about certain Reagan era policies (especially of the economic kind or that his two terms were perfect without blemish) OR worse and more disgusting yet, they are using Reagans death as an opportunity to basically say "Ha ha! Stupid liberals! We rule!" which I just have to shake my head at. I mean why do this?? Thats the height of disrespect to me. And when boobs come on the tv spouting on about how he saved the country by cutting taxes I just want to burst.

That being said Id like to know how many people here went out of their way to put themself in position to view the funeral procession in either California or Washington to show RESPECT for the late former president. hands anyone? conservatives? helloooo? what it just me? the respectless liberal? Was I the only one? Come on I know I saw quite a lot of misty eyed somber pasty faced common americans while I was waiting. Shared a couple good conversations with em even. None of em post here then?

I'm getting lazy. I only have the energy to point out that when Reagan entered the Presidency, the highest tax rate in the US of A was 70% (or higher, I forget) & during his term it hit a low of 28%. HUGE cut.
 
I just finished watching Nancy receive THE FLAG. I have one of those flags. I cried then. I cried tonight.

Reagan was once asked why he never fought back against those who attacked him so vehemently. His response was "I don't have to. History will tell the truth."
