Problem with forum subscription...

I subscribed to the Creative Arts forum, assuming that every time a new thread was posted I would get an email or something. I'm not getting anything other than notices for new posts in individual threads I'm subscribed to.

Is there a problem, or do I just not understand how the forum subscription works?

I originally thought the forum subscription setting worked the same way, , but apparently it only creates a "convenient" link in your user CP. I guess it's useful when there's hundreds of forums. I could go look for a way to make it function like thread subscriptions though.
