My brat just ripped the phone wires out of the grey box outside. aargh. My neighbour and I managed to wind a loose blue one around the post where another blue one led out, and the dial tone is back. I have 2 sets of red and orange dangling, is that normal? I have a long white one dangling as well out the bottom of the grey box, with multicoloured wires coming out - bare at the ends. This was dangling before, we had a guy come (in a spiffy blue van btw) and he did whatever he did, I don't recall if it was dangling after he came. The bare wires disturb me though. Can I safely stick those in the box as is for now? Will wirecare cover me for repair now that I've fiddled with it? I guess I could cover up the evidence by unwinding it lol - wire care will cover me for the kids damage I know that at least. Any help with the wires appreciated. Thanks!

Les, I've got bad news for ya. I work for a cabling company, but I'm not a cabler. I'm a computer tech. I have no idea about the wires. But I can tell you that if the damage was at the demarc (grey box) and noone knows who did it, it's the phone company's problem. There are more wires to the demarc than are used, so those loose wires can probably be tucked in with no prob. I'll open my demarc when I get home and tell you what I've got.

But I suggest the old advice. If it ain't broke, don't fuck with it. And taking a stick to that kid might be a good idea too.
 
sh*t. Oh, well, thanks anyway. Stick appropriately taken, he's terrified at the thought of daddy coming home, think he won't do that again. Will leave as is, probably use some tie wraps to lock it shut lol. :eek: almost had no phone or internet till Tuesday!!! But if you could let me know what's in yours, I could try to match it before tying it shut. Don't like bare wires hanging around like that.
