Reagan on the $10 bill.

Window Licker
So a NeoCon group is attempting to get Raygone on everything from the 10 dollar bill to Rushmore...
http://www.reaganlegacy.org/about/index.htm
The mission of the Ronald Reagan Legacy Project is to honor the legacy of our 40th president, Ronald Reagan. The Reagan Legacy Project aims to fulfill its mission by naming significant public landmarks after President Reagan in the 50 states and over 3,000 counties of the United States, as well as in formerly communist countries across the world.

On February 6, 1998, the Reagan Legacy Project succeeded in its first mission: to rename Washington’s National Airport to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. This event was particularly significant as it occurred on Ronald Reagan’s 87th birthday.
Then have a look at the Board of Directors.

Great, all at a great cost to the taxpayer, whom Raygone didn't give a rats ass about anyway.

What is going on is the turning of this mear mortal, (an not exactly ethical) man, into an icon of the extreme-right's vision of America.

That group seems to go a little too far in worshipping Reagan, I'll agree... but you're making it sound as though remembering the good things Reagan did should be illegal.

I do feel the bad far outweighs the good.
We need to keep things in perspective, before we find ourselves thinking he is the example for what a great american president should be. Whoops, that's already happend, look at the shrub.
:(

Let me know, as a NEOCON (still wondering what in the fuck that means), and as a supporter of President Reagan, can you tell me how long after Teddy Roosevelt was laid to rest that his face was in granite in South Dakota?

How about which President was Alexander Hamilton, I seem to have misplaced that information. Say, did Hamilton (or FDR for that matter) stop global scale communism dead in it's tracks?

An interesting way to begin your journey at OTC...on the attack.

NEOCON
Neoconservative – A "neocon" is more inclined than other conservatives toward vigorous government in the service of the goals of traditional morality and pro-business policies. Tends to favor a very strong foreign policy of America as well.

I.E. Screw the workers (we the people), broaden the gap between rich and poor, Fuck The World. = Neocon.

Hamilton = Founding father, and I may be mistaken, first sec. of the treasury.

As for the "fall of communism" What exactly did he do to bring "them" down?
Truthfully I think not a damn thing but act like an American. The Soviet Union was already crumbling, all it needed was time.

Reagan's foreign policy was not perfect. He did not know what to do about Cuba. He was blurry about China. He did little about Israel and Palestine. His liking for Mikhail Gorbachev at one point almost led him into giving the last Soviet leader a foolish and unnecessary nuclear concession.

Meanwhile, Reagun was sure to fill Saddam Hussein's coffers with millions of American tax payer dollars, so that he could lob missles at Iran, and for what?
So that we could later get bogged down in an illegal military action? However, that is another topic.

Face it, the guy was a failure, except in the eyes of Hardline Rightwingers, like yourself, gonz.

We hardline rightwingers make it possible for you socialists to not die at the hands of tyrants.

There are tens of millions of free south American residents living under democratic rule thanks to President Reagan.

Good job, gonz. You are already showing your colors.
Let's have you answer this.
What did Reagan do to cause communism to "fall" besides just sit on his ass and wait?

Besides back the same "rebels" who "in the name of anti-communism" raped and murdered 3 Nuns, and one other woman.

Not to mention the embargo against the ELECTED goverment of Nicaragua, which caused untold numbers of deaths, due to lack of antibiotics among other things.

Oh, and I am a Realist, not a Socialist. Please calm down, I can see a vein popping in your forhead as you strain to think.

Catch you in the A.M. ;-)

The simple fact is that the USSR was going nowhere when the world was run by appeasers. We spent 50 or so years listening to how communism held a moral equivalent position to democracy. How a murdering, thieving empirical state was ideally equal to our own. That is blatantly false. The United States had for years listened to the intelligentsia & tried to placate the Soviet Union. As we did that the cold war grew colder & the world became less safe.

Mr Reagan believed that communism was inherently evil, a view I share. He looked at all the options...military-we spent, they spent...propaganda-we used VOA, they used the BBC...on & on it went over the years, us concilliating to avoid the probable, inevitable end-mutually assured destruction. He used the one thing that America had that only America could use to avoid all out catostrophic war-the economy. Simply, he outspent them. This & the threat of SDI. Only in America could such a unique defensive weapon be conceived, considered, planned & set into motion. MR Gorbachev, knowing our history of doing what needs to be done, knew he had no choice but to begin changing the evil empire. Glasnost and Perestroika-the initial hole in the dike of communism. Once a few received a littl efreedom & they spread the word, it was all over. The most dangerous thing to a tyranical system of government is for one man to taste freedom. The Soviets tried to spoon feed a little at a time & were crushed under it's relentless weight & optimism.

Freedom, charliekola, was a gift from Ronald Reagan & the people of the United States to over 100,000,000 people behind & previously buried under the iron curtain.

General Secretary Gorbachev, if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, if you seek liberalization: Come here to this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!

From that day to November 9, 1989 to watch the Berlin Wall beat into submission.

That is leadership.

The fact is that communism was crumbling to begin with. He only had to sit back and watch it happen.

The massive increase of our national debit, (for nukes that both sides knew didn't make a damn bit of difference) And a psyops program called SDI (HOW THE HELL DID HE SPEND THAT MUCH ON A PSYOP PROGRAM??? )

That is the real Reagun Legacy, one that at least had a chance of thankfully dissappearing under Clinton and his successor, until the shrub got planted in the oval office. I think Reagun OWES this country a few billion 10 dollar bills, and not ones with his mug on them.

The intellect found here is staggering.
That must be why the Repug. congress is about to tell Bush get lost, as he asks for more money.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A35424-2004Jun11.html

Emboldened by the decline in President Bush's approval ratings, the Iraq prisoner abuse scandal and setbacks in the Iraq war, the Republican Congress is showing signs of taking a more assertive approach to its dealings with the administration.

One Senate committee is holding hearings into abuse of prisoners in Iraq and a second is about to issue a report on intelligence failures before the Iraq war. Early this month, a House Appropriations subcommittee, meeting behind closed doors, quickly rejected Bush's request for a free hand in spending a $25 billion contingency fund for the war in Iraq, stipulating instead how all but $1 billion would be used.

And regardless of which branch of gov. the power to change who is on the currency lies. It would mearly be a waste, and a further blackmark on this nation to have reagun on it.

Reagan is your God!

"Today was a calling to those who maybe are in the wagon. Maybe they could do something to start pulling it, and it was also an affirmation for those pulling the wagon to keep pulling it. It's worth it."

Re: Reagan is your God!

I guess you guys have lost your faith in your "God". You now have winky begging for someone to argue me wrong, as your "masta" has had his ass handed to him.

He's up there for the same reason some people want Reagan on the ten dollar bill. Hysterical overreaction. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail this time.

Re: Reagan is your God!

Please..... the post not the poster. trust me i will grow weary of asking nicely after a while. Its not to come in and own someones ideas for bragging rights. just the facts.
