My DVD player arrived this morning... so far I have had it playing DVDs, SVCDs, VCDs, CDs, MP3s and it's BRILLIANT!

I'm gonna have to hook it up to some speakers though. It has to be connected to an amplifier first, preferably with Dolby Digital or 5.1 Channel output... then by the look of things I can set up surround sound.. any suggestions for a good budget priced system? .
 
I think Moof's our resident expert on speakers but he's going to tell you to buy some hugely expensive system. ;)

I have an idea... Maybe he can buy those speakers he was looking at on Ebay and then give you his old. Sound good? :grinyes:

I have a set of Klipsch Promedia 2.1 multimedia speakers, they kinda rule. I think you can get them for under $200, US, $150 maybe even. Well worht the price.
 
I thought your dvd had a built-in DD decoder, you could buy a cheaper set of speakers/amplifier if that's true.

I've seen the Creative Inspire (without decoder) to have good sound and low-cost.

Um... yes you're right it does say it has a built in DD decoder, but the manual shows it hooked up to an amplifier so I'm now totally confused. ?(
 
I went back and had a read of the feedback from people who've bought the player... Yes I can hook it up directly to speakers I just have to get some 3.5mm to phono leads which I can get cheaply from maplins online shop. Apparently the Antec Lancing 5100 or Creative 5.1 speakers work well. :D
