Citing safety features far exceeding current building requirements, developer Larry Silverstein Wednesday released his designs for a new 7 World Trade Center.

The 750-foot glass and steel office tower will have reinforced concrete walls, increased amounts of structural steel, double the required fireproofing materials and wider staircases than required by code.

very cool looking building :headbang:

its a waste of time though really

like kevin costner

build it and they will come

better surely to spend all that extra cash on getting us airport secuirty up to scratch!

i have to wonder if an underground facility might have been more practical, but considering the location/geography of region then possibly not

Manhattan is an island, you can't go 100 stories down. And tell all the thousands of companies that lost their business offices to 9/11 that the space isn't needed. It is, trust me.

it's not that easy to put a plane down of that size

the guys that flew on 9/11 were not that skilled as pilots, they had the basics figured out but weren't that experienced

The previous building, which caught fire and collapsed hours after the Twin Towers on Sept. 11, housed fuel tanks for the city's emergency operations office, which some blamed for the fire. Silverstein said those tanks would be located under a proposed public park nearby.
Am I reading this right? Fuel tanks underneath a public park? :disgust:

They did say 'proposed'... I'm wondering if the park is going to have a memorial to the WTC towers. There aren't many areas in NYC where the fuel tanks would be easily accessible. You can't bury them under office buildings, right? You might, I don't know. But the only other places are parks.
