Selling books on Amazon

Does anyone sell their books on Amazon? I was looking at my bookshelf today and there are so many books that I wouldn't mind getting rid of. I was going to donate them to the library but, honestly, I could use some extra cash right about now.

Anyone ever do this? It sounds pretty cool, and safe. Amazon handles the money exchange, the seller (me) handles the shipping but they give you a credit for it. Amazon takes 99 cents and 15% of the final sale price. So on a book that sells for $16.00 (hardcover), I would make about $12. Not bad for a book that would otherwise be cluttering up my shelves and floor.

now if only i could persuade my missus flog some of her old tomes, this place is looking more and more like a library that has been hit by a paper-mill :D

That's a good thing. We can't throw books away & even selling them seems sacreligious.

Might be a good alternative to donation. It's not that much of a beneift on the tax deduction side giving them to the library.

I never sold any on Amazon, but I've bought a bunch from there for my mom. We've been very pleased. (way more than the stupid book club where she couldn't remember to send back the thing to decline the automatic selections and got shipped a few dozen books she didn't want:banghead: )

Thanks for reminding me! :)

There are quite a few books that I would never part with. My Stephen King collection, Ayn Rand books... But there were more than a few that weren't that great and not the style of anyone else I know. Those I wouldn't mind parting with.

The ones that aren't in great shape, I might be able to donate those to the library too. Although I don't know if they would want them in that shape either.
