I heard it this morning on the way to work, and was thinking about it since. Most folks don't even know who she was...
 
Well... She made a mid level splash in the early 70s. I was a toddler white boy 5 states away from her district. I doubt I would have seen her face pass by on the news more than 3-4 times. My 4 y/o mushy brain wouldn't have retained it.

Heck... you could put up a quick and dirty lineup of old men with Gov. Wallace and I probably wouldn't be able to pick him out... and he's been dredged up a dozen times in the last 20 years. All I've ever seen of him is the grainy assassination footage over and over.
 
I think I saw or heard about it somewhere, but considering I wasn't even two years old when she left congress, it's not surprising I didn't know much about her.
