The superintendent of a Massachusetts school district has failed a required English literacy three times, even though he has put two dozen teachers on unpaid leave for failing a similar exam.

that'll be a quick trip to +1 on the unemployment figures then. and a little bit of friendly suing...

I don't care whether he's an English teacher or not; the rules of spelling, grammar and punctuation are well-established, and everyone who writes primarily in the English language should know them and follow them regardless of profession. This is especially true for someone who oversees an educational system that is supposed to teach what is on this test.

What the hell? We don't expect our President to know the shit. Why should we expect this guy to?

Because this guy's job is, foremost, to educate. ;)

That is a good point, but I've always thought the leader of something should have a pretty good grasp on what his subordinates do. Did this guy just get a job as an admin or did he work his way up to that?

Most school superintendents I'v ever seen were petty time servers. I've only known four or five, though. This guys ass needs firing.

The article, (Which I just read, I know, read the fucking article before you post) says that he was born in Puerto Rico, and that English is his second language. I'm rather surprised he got the job, elected or not.

When I take a job I'm hoping it's because there isn't anybody already in the firm who can do it. Therefore I wouldn't expect my boss to pass the same exams I need to.

I would, if I were an english teacher. If my boss can't pass it, he's proving why these children don't need to be taught ;) He's got this high up job and until they tested him and until he fired all these people (he fired them, right? :$ Unpaid leave=firing, right? :$), he was doing okay for himself.

the greater Boston area has a feel good policy. ;)

A13-technically, no, unpaid leave is not firing. It makes no logical sense but it makes a lot of bureaucratic sense.

In most companies, the boss knows how to do every job below him or her... at least in theory.
