WASHINGTON — While saving Social Security (search) became a familiar mantra on the campaign trail, President Bush and members of Congress now actually face the prospect of handling real legislation for reform, and politicians are already lining up along party lines for a fight.

Think they'll cooperate?...Naaaahhhhh...

What I would give if Congress would allow privatization of Social Security. I would gladly forfeit every dime I've paid in if they would release future withholdings and allow me to invest these dollars to fund my own retirement. Make it a requirement that the money must be used for retirement...I'm all for it. I can beat the rate of return I'll get from SSA picking stocks blindfolded.

Sadly, it'll never happen. The damn Democrats will get in the way, protecting their welfare baby factories, and continue robbing the working man to subsidize those too lazy to work. Thank you FDR. Your legacy lives on in our empty wallets to this day.
