solicit a hooker, lose your car

bad idea

is this the start of a new trend in law enforcement? get caught doing something and forfeit your property? i know they've been doing this for awhile with the drug dealers, now they want to do something similar if you get caught soliciting.
i just dont like the idea of police agencies enhancing their budgets this way. too much of a temptation to abuse the power.

And they do......

These kind of laws have been around for quite some time...In PA, if you poach a deer, they can take your gun, your car/truck (which presumably is used to transport yout 'trophy'), and even your house, if they decide to wait for you to get home. This law hasn't been abused, as yet, but potential abuse is not abuse. ;)

I'm from Jersey Gato. Our State Police think they run the world. They only get promoted for big (numbers or size) drug busts. So if...er...when they stop you, you'll probably find out you posess drugs you never knew about. I don't trust our State Police at all.

I've been through Jersey several times throughout my career and I have never been stopped. I'll keep that in mind, though. No searches allowed unless a lawyer is present. ;)

Use of a vehicle during a crime. Works for me.

As for loosing your dick, that's Saudi Arabia. I seem to recall that one of the arabic states has an impaling law for adulterers.

How about solicit a hooker, lose your d*ck. That one never appealed to me either.

On a sorta/not related subject, my employer says that if I get a DWI, I could lose my job. Doesn't have to be during working hours, while on call, or using a company car. Anytime, at all. Since my boss is as good as a trained monkey, he couldn't fully explain that one to us when we had questions. But made us sign the acceptance of the policy in front of him anyway.

American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California, said the plan would be unconstitutional because it would let police confiscate property even if the suspect is never charged or convicted of a crime

this is just wrong.

Anytime the office asks me to sign a paper like that, I tell them that I'll be happy to, just as soon as my lawyer and the labour board have looked it over and cleared it. Funny enough, I've never been asked twice.
