Has anybody seen this badass spyware?
It's worse that many viruses I've seen to get rid of.

This is the first time I've seen it on a customer's comp, and it tough to get
rid of with just the free tools out there.

I've tried this smitRem, but it won't run, even it safe mode.
It says "it's not recognized as a program" error, when I try to run it.

I'm thinking about buying this XoftSpy program.
It seems to find it ok and I've read it does get it off, but I've read some negative
stuff about earlier versons too.
Has anybody here tried xoftspy?

I tried the link and it got rid of it. My bf's computer had the stupid thing on his comp and it was driving me nuts everytime I tried using his computer. I'm glad I finally got rid of it.

I don't even know where this stupid thing came from. He doesn't even know. He's got Norton, zone alarm and some other stuff. I told him he needs to bring his comp in to get completely cleaned out and upgraded. Doesn't make too much of a difference though because mine is better and once he moves in with me, we'll be using mine, but i'll be monitoring what goes on it.

It's loaded as part of a browser session. Usually from browsing some not-so-credible websites. Not like here. Pretty much any wares/porn/free site is gonna try and upload some sort of crap. Does he have Norton Antivirus, or Norton Internet Suite? Not that they're the best, or that any one antispy software will get them all anyways.

Taking it in would be a waste of money. Any good shop is just (16) gonna download exactly the same softs that you did and scan it exactly the same way. Unless you want a flush and reinstall. And upgrading comps today isn't really worth the effort. Any chip upgrade worth the time is gonna require a motherboard update too, because they're changing the sockets damn near daily. Memory upgrades are about it.

basicly it's a flush and re-install that he needs on his comp for the time being until he moves in. once that happens, we can get rid of it. it's an old piece of shit in my opinion.
