Tax Refund

So what are you going to do with yours?

My wife and I got ours back today. The whole thing, minus a few hundred, went to six credit cards. Each one getting completely paid off. We are now DEBT FREE!

What a feeling. KNowing that you now have x number of dollars a month that are free each month to use on other expences. :)

LOL

I used to think that way. Got married and suddenly we have this check coming every year.

I wound up owing this time around. Just a bit over $200, though, so it's not too bad.

We might get screwed up the ying yang this year. Rusty's wonderful employer, a contracting agency, gave him a 10-99 that has over $9000. on it. For those of you who don't know, a 10-99 is for money that didn't have any taxes taken out of it. They also gave him a W-2 with the money they *did* take taxes out on. Since he had one major 6 month project and 3 minor projects, their accounting makes no sense whatsoever. His "paychecks" if you want to call them that had no breakdown of the gross/net/taxes taken out. I never saw them and Rusty never mentioned it so I have had no idea all this time.

If he doesn't get a straight answer from these people as to how they divvied up that money and why, I'm going to go down there and unleash my rage upon them. They do NOT want to fuck with me. We have officially ended Rusty's relationship with the unprofessional fuckers. God help them, that's all I have to say about that.

Rusty had defaulted on his school loans before he met me (he was having trouble paying his bills but didn't tell them so he could work with them instead of getting threatening collection calls) so the government decided they were going to take his tax returns to make up for it. Since we started working on his credit over these few years, they have allowed him to keep his returns and we got a pretty good amount last year.

I'm not expecting anything back at this point. We may even have to dip into our savings to pay, even. :grumpy:

I'm getting a pilot's license. :) For too long have I just been in the co-pilot's seat. Going to run about $3,000 to $5,000 (Canadian $).

You stole $3000-$5000 from the government? I didn't realize you had got into them for that much.

Ack!! There are enough threads about Jerrek. Take it outside people! :smash: :D

Q, can I ask you a question about 10-99's if you don't mind? I'm assuming that since Rusty got all that money tax-free that he's going to have to pay taxes on them now that it's tax time. Is all your income on a 10-99 and not W-2? Do you have to pay every year? (if I'm being too personal, just tell me, that's cool. :) )

Greenie, I was self employed for a few years, and recieved only 1099's. If you know you are just getting 1099's, you pay throughout the year, in order to have it done when filing time rolls around. You really don't have to, but the IRS encourages it, and it's better if you do as well, so you don't end up with a huge lump sum due April 15th.

Flavio, I wasn't mad, just kiddin really. Although there are no shortages of threads centered around Jerrek, I enjoy your posts immensely. :headbng2:

Thanks PT, that makes sense. It's something we never encountered before, being a contract worker. I just wish we had known up front and that's not their fault really, I just want to know how they came up with these freaky numbers. They don't make sense at all. It's not even like Rusty made all that much money last year, he didn't. Knowing that, it pains me to have to give *any* of it back!

Me too!!!:headbng2:

greenie, are you all squared away with the 1099 thing? Rusty may be allowed more or different deductions from the income declared in the 1099. I couldn't really give you too much advice. We have an accountant. He's a crook, he hates the irs...we like him alot :D
