Teachers salaries

Teachers of elementary and secondary public schools have a very low income, but then again, most of them really don't deserve a better payment.

Looking at the quality of their knowledge, the way they speak and the way they teach, I just wonder about the formation of the new generations, I'm serious, every new generation out of secondary is dumber and more ignorant than the previous.

What a shame...

Yet their pay goes up every year.

$35,000. per year or better is not low income, it's average. Add the perks & they get quite a bit more.

I was talking about teachers in mexican public schools.

At least I don't feel that bad knowing that not only our elementary and secondary level teachers suck.

its not too different here in the states although it depends on what school your in. My school was good and the teachers could teach us, but most schools I know of in the states suck.

Okay, maybe it's not the teachers pay scale (although 35 grand a year is on the low end of average for a college educated person) but something is clearly wrong. I think it's shameful.

They aren't having to double as titty dancers either (unless they want)
I know a few of my teachers could definately be one of those and I wouldnt have complained....

We're 24. Not bad, not good, just right. :p

Those are real dollars. No need to factor in CoL

I was just thinking about the costs of housing, day care, transportation, etc. 30,000+ may possibly go farther in North Dakota than 50,000+ in New York, but I don't have the data in front of me to know for sure.

No need to factor in COL? Ok, so if I make 35,000 a year, it spends the same wherever I live? Surely you can't mean that.

I dare say most the states in the top 5, maybe even top 10 probably have a higher cost of living than the rest of the country. Not a coincidence that the top five are so close to each other geographically either.
