Thank You Hollywood

HUMAN EVENTS has learned that a billboard blitz "thanking" Hollywood for the reelection of President Bush will be unveiled early next week.

The advertisements feature the faces of liberal Hollywood icons Michael Moore, Whoopi Goldberg, Ben Affleck, Martin Sheen, Chevy Chase, Barbara Streisand, and Sean Penn, and offer thanks to Hollywood their help getting President Bush reelected.

Two versions of the billboard were created, both "thanking" Hollywood -- the first for "4 more years" and the second for "W. Still President."

Billboard creator Citizens United, a group that advocates a return to traditional American values, has purchased the use of three billboards near the Kodak Theatre (home of the Academy Awards) for the month of February, which includes Oscar Night, Sunday, February 27.

Asked about the campaign, Citizens United President David Bossie said, "We're taking on Hollywood. We've done it in the past." Of the organization's many actions, one of its most famous challenges to Hollywood was Celsius 41.11, a documentary exposing "the truth behind the lies of Fahrenheit 9/11," the Michael Moore anti-Bush mock-umentary.

I think it's correct. At least some credit for Bush's win has to go to the whiny, self-righteous left and how offensive the average, middle of the road American finds them.

Maybe into a deep deep pit of despair with smooth unclimbable walls

So then when do they put up the giant billboards in downtown San Fran saying THANKS FAGS!! And have they been able to get clearance for puting up ones in Saudi Arabia with the faces of the 19 terrorists on it?

Backlash, TD. If you'll remember, I suggested there'd be some (and that it would be ugly). I think you can count on more.

They wont... probably because they dont want to confuse Brit tourists into thinking that hes thanking the tobacco industry.

Besides, the rental rates for billboard space in San Fran is seriously expensive.

Because gay people come in both conservative and liberal veins like everybody else. Why offend them? :D

It's simple, really: "Thanks, Hollywood" is a lot funnier than "Thanks, Fags" would be. Part of the humor is that these billboards will be up right when a lot of the people they're "thanking" will be in town for the Academy Awards.

Now, here's something interesting: my ol' pal Laurie had a facial expression called the "stupid fuck you face" she would use when an idiot was on the phone while at work (good ol' retail). The expression on Chevy Chase's face really reminds me of the "stupid fuck you face." :D

These individuals chose to go public with their views and try to use their celebrity status to influence a presidential election. Key words: They chose.

Someone chose to remind the citizens of these individuals' words and deeds.

When these people decided to make their politics public, they opened a door. When the door is open, anyone who chooses to is free to walk through. Someone did. They get to deal with it.

Well put.

Yeah why offend them. Lets be nice to them by telling them they cant marry...

:p Nice try. I'll give you a point for changing the subject, but it will be deducted for avoiding the question you, yourself, posed. :grinyes:

I don't see Susan Sarandon and her hubby Tim. Have they fallen from the radar?
I was thinking the same thing.
Last interview I saw with Tim, he kinda stayed clear of the politics thing.
I think they are trying to salvage their careers now.

They are the only people in Hollyweird, outside of MM, that I truly find so disgusting I can't get past their shenanigans. Even Sean Penn, the actor, is good enough to make me forget he's a traitor.
