The AMD Barton chips

I haven't shopped for AMD in a little while, but I just noticed
my main supplier is advertising the xp-Barton.
How long have they been out, and is anyone here running one....
if so, can you tell a difference from the reg xp?

I really like the idea of the 512k cache.
I may have to gear-up on AMD again now. :grinyes:

They've been out for a while .They run on a 166FSB as opposed to a regular XPs 133FSB,so your going to see some performance increase.

The site I was looking at said the chips were 400fsb.
Maybe that was just for the 3200.

The 200fsb/400DDR chips haven't been out all that long. I've been considering getting a 2500+ as they overclock not too badly. Although I really can't talk myself into it as my 2100+ @ 200x11 isn't that bad that I need to change cpus...

I've been wanting to get a dual channel 333 board for an xp proc.,
but I have 2 rambus systems, that everything I need, and I haven't
had the extra money for it anyway. I've got a P4-2.4 on an Aopen
system w/333 that I'm gonna try to sell, and I may get an AMD sys
to replace it. I haven't decided yet.

the bartons are pretty good. I'm an intel person though.
I've got a 2800 barty @ 2470mhz on a asus A7N8X deluxe w/corsair xms 3500.
so i'd say they do ok with good cooling. xaser edition volcano 11.

they're are some major shit heads at HWC. i'm thinking of asking Bink to remove my account.

sam.

Don't do that, just don't go there if you don't like it there. Either that or raise a lot of hell till they ban ya :beerbang:

Hmmmm... I just discovered that small businesses can offset 100% of the cost of IT equipment and e-commerce against tax in the first year of business over here.

Unless they change the rules, that means a decent upgrade when I start trading, and possibly a server. :D
