Twice, within a week.

We all know about the spanking the American folks handed their Senators over the immigration bill...

Locally we had the city council ram through a $500,000,000. school bond issue last spring. That was half of what was asked for, initially, so they'd follow up in a few years for the rest (which, by then would probably be a full billion).

In response, the people started a remonstrance. Blue vs yellow petitions. Blue ones said, hell no we're taking a 25% property tax hit so a teachers can have airconditioning for 12 days a year.

Write Yellow, Right Now said it's for the children. They suggested that upgrading all the schools woud help the educatiopn process. When we the people informed them that the last 2 major school upgrades resulted in those schools ending up on the states acedemic probation list (just short of being taken over by the state for poor performance) they said it was because the schools are crumbling. When we asked what the school board jas done with the twenty five million a year for maintenance they bowed their head & said it would improve the education process.

As of yesterday, the petitions were turned in. The initial count is 33000 blue & not quite 11000 yellow.

Of course, the reason we signed blue was because we're vacuous racists who hate teachers & just don't understand.

Corona said he would like to hold community meetings and invite people who signed blue petitions to explain why they did and whether they would support a building project at a different price or one broken up into phases. He believes the board and the task force did a poor job of explaining the project and simplifying it for taxpayers.

Bite me bitch
