Pope's Schedule
Pope John Paul II’s Toronto, World Youth Day itinerary:
Tuesday, July 23:
1pm: The Pope arrives at Pearson
2pm: He will fly, via helicopter, to Strawberry Island on Lake Simcoe for a short vacation.
Thursday, July 25:
5pm: The Pope makes a 90-minute official welcome at Exhibition Place. He also plans to ride the Popemobile through the World Youth Day crowd.
Friday, July 26:
7:30-10:30pm – Way of the Cross goes from city hall, up University Ave., to Royal Ontario Museum.
Saturday, July 27
9 am to 12pm – Pope will be at St. Joseph’s Morrow Park in North York where he will hold audiences for various politicians.
7:30-9pm – Pope arrives at Downsview Park and rides Popemobile through the crowd. A procession and vigil will follow.
Sunday, July 28:
8:45am – Pope arrives and will tour the Downsview Park site and the crowd.
9:30am to noon – Papal mass begins at Downsview Park. This is the only event that is open to the public. A million people are expected to attend.
Monday, July 29:
11am – Pope leaves Toronto from Pearson and makes his way to Guatemala.
