Federal investigators have arrested an enigmatic Wall Street wiz on insider-trading charges -- and incredibly, he claims to be a time-traveler from the year 2256!
[...]

"But the fact is, with an initial investment of only $800, in two weeks' time he had a portfolio valued at over $350 million. Every trade he made capitalized on unexpected business developments, which simply can't be pure luck."

Original, at least..

Why doesn't the NY times ever run interesting stories like these :D They are so much more intersting than ordinary news.

The funniest things were some of the idiotic arguments against this being true that I found around the place.. especially the ones here. I mean "duh" but if you're going to try and shoot it down at least come up with something that doesn't make me want to slap ya round the head with a piano and lock ya in preschool for the next 6 yrs..

All field solutions that I am aware of require that time travel be limited to the span during which the time machine used was in existence. If this guy traveled back from 2256 or whenever, it means there exists today the time machine that he will eventually use.

But... it was a good joke! :rofl3:

I have always simply applied the idea that one of the dudes pointed out in that thing I posted - the earth is moving through space at thousands of kilometres per second, so even if time travel was eventually developed, it would be practically useless because when you transport yourself through time you'd end up in the middle of space..

Of course, all somewhat possible theories thus far would require a spacecraft during at least one point of your journey, so I suppose that anyone able to build the time machine would have no problem catching up to Earth... :)

CAn he be my broker if he's in jail? $800 to $350,000,000 is a decent return rate these days, especially in two weeks:headbang:

I'm curious if there is even a shred of truth upon which these tabloid lies are based. They are always so outrageous. It's really too bad there is probably no such person :(
