N Korean warns Australia could face nuclear strike
July 15 2003

Australian could face a nuclear attack from North Korea if it got involved in an international force to stop ships carrying weapons of mass destruction, an unofficial spokesman for the North Korean government has warned.
Australia has agreed to take part in maritime exercises which may lead to the establishment of an international operation to stop the weapons trade by counties such as North Korea.
Kim Myong-Chol from the Centre for Korean-American Peace last night said if North Korean ships were stopped at sea, North Korea could turn its nuclear arsenal on Australia.
Mr Myong-Chol said North Korea had reprocessed 8000 nuclear fuel rods at the Yongbyon nuclear facility, and had nuclear missiles pointed at the United States.
He said North Korea also had missiles capable of hitting Australia.
"If Australia become part of American manipulation against North Korea, North Korea reserve the right to strike back on Australia," Mr Myong-Chol told ABC TV's Lateline program.
"That is official North Korean position.
"If Australia become part of American operation, North Korean response is to attack Australia."
Mr Myong-Chol said North Korea had the ability to strike Australia at any time.
He said North Korea had been monitored Australian involvement in talks to set up the force in Brisbane last week.
"North Korea is carefully monitoring all Australian behaviour, so Australia must be careful in its behaviour to North Korea," Mr Myong-Chol said.
He warned prime minister John Howard, who will visit South Korea this week, to be careful in his talks with Asian leaders.
"The North Korean message is to be careful in talking," Mr Myong-Chol said.
"Otherwise, harm to Australia."

ignoring certain remarks

Il Jung wants somebody to pay attention to him. If we won't & the EU won't & China tells him to STFU then maybe those downunder will. :laugh2: :rofl4:

I say let him fire. Maybe the fallout will mutate some babies, they'll grow up stronger and faster and then they'll finally be able to put together a rugby team capable of giving us Kiwis a decent challenge... :p

Sydney (dpa) - Australia could ask the United States to equip it with a missile defence system to ward off attacks from international terrorist groups and from rogue states like Iraq and North Korea.

Defence Minister Robert Hill said Wednesday that tapping into the proposed global missile shield could help protect Australia or its forces in combat.

Hill said the so-called Star Wars defence system could destroy missiles at lift-off or at atmospheric re-entry. He said it is a massive program and too expensive for Australia to replicate but some elements might be useful.

``I see the need to better be able to protect ships from missiles that are fired at us from far afield or to protect troops on the ground and in that part of the so-called national missile program, there may be an opportunity and a value for Australia,'' he said.

Looked for a while but couldn't find a single bookmaker with better odds on Australia than for England for the World Cup.. although I did find a couple who had England rated better than even the ABs.. retards...
:p

frankly I couldn't care less if NZ wins the Cup this year or not either, in fact I'm more likely to be cheering for France, given that those will be the happiest chicks around me if they win.. :grinyes: If NZ does lift it though you can be sure I'll make the most of the occasion.. ;)

you could lay odds (no pun intended) on that happening

Any Americans here play or played rugby? I'm an American and I played in HS :) Played wing on the A side, flanker on the B side. Our coach was from NZ and since the USA sucks balls, I'll be rooting for NZ!
